MB&F and H. Moser

Watchmaking is all about creativity and collaboration.

Isolation, home office, the collapse of Baselworld and factory shutdowns is enough to lose your beliefs, let alone in Haute Horlogerie. H.Moser and MB&F has come together restore your faith in Life and the power of cooperation. Ok, We might be exaggerating slightly, but seriously, whoever played matchmaker here has set up the perfect marriage. The term Collaboration is seriously underselling this horological match-up. Close your eyes and imagine this: The cutting edge of MB&F with their 21st Century take on mechanical Haute Horlogerie, paired with the minimalist perfection of H.Moser and their hypnotizing fumé dials. We have a suspicion you’re already smiling, you should be…

We present a first look at the two pieces of this project, and the natural conclusion is one of complementing design and a perfect juxtaposition of what has so far been exclusive features and brand signifiers, what were they waiting for?

MB&F Legacy Machine 101 Reinterpreted by H. Moser & Cie

The first example is H.Moser reinterpreting the Legacy Time Machine 101, manufactured by MB&F. At first confusing we recognize the language of the innovative Geneva maison, but at the same time with a twist. The H.Moser touch of a minimalist fantasy come true, albeit minimalism embodied as beauty – not simplicity, from their Concept series. The arc of the MB&F balance bridge entertains us as a thought inducing mechanical marvel, but reimagined hovering above the abyss-like fumè wonder of an H.Moser dial lending it an extra dimension. The balance itself incorporates another hallmark of H.Moser. the double Straumann hairspring. Previously only seen in their most exclusive movements, this is the first time it is so clearly showcased. The deep colour of the fumè dial has the sharp detail of Moser dauphine hour and minute hands at 1 and a power reserve at 6, seemingly floating in the coloured void as if to remind us of the impermanence of time itself.

H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon Reinterpreted by MB&F

For the second piece the H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon has been completely and beguilingly re-mixed by MB&F with elements from the LM Flying T and Thunderdome, and produced by H.Moser in Neuhausen. Without giving the game away we will let Suzanne Wong guide you through its wonders, and how the technical tour de force of a cylindrical hairspring becomes a defining highlight.
